Why You’re Always Tired
Always tired? Dr. Rodger Murphree explains how poor sleep, stress hormones, and hidden thyroid issues can drive chronic fatigue.
Hi there,
One of the most frustrating parts of fatigue is that people think they should be able to push through it. But if your body is not sleeping deeply, handling stress well, or making enough thyroid energy, pushing harder usually makes things worse.
Start With Sleep
The first place I look is sleep. Not just how many hours you spend in bed, but whether your body is getting deep, restorative sleep.
That is when your body repairs itself, clears waste from the brain, and helps your muscles, hormones, and nervous system recover. If you wake up tired, crash during the day, or never feel refreshed, sleep has to be fixed first.
Your Body May Be Running on Empty
The next place I look is stress. Your adrenal glands help you deal with stress by making hormones like cortisol and DHEA.
But when you have been under stress for months or years, that system can get depleted. That is when small things feel huge. Bright lights, noise, emails, exercise, social events, or normal daily life can wipe you out.
You are not weak. Your stress-coping system may be drained.

Basic Thyroid Tests Can Miss A Lot
The third place I look is thyroid function. Many people are told their thyroid is “normal” because their doctor only checked TSH, or TSH and T4.
That is not always enough. You also need to know whether T4 is converting into active T3. You need to check reverse T3. You need to look for thyroid antibodies that may point to Hashimoto’s.
If your thyroid is not working right, your energy will not be right either.
The Takeaway
Fatigue is not always solved with more coffee, more motivation, or another quick supplement. You have to ask better questions.
Are you sleeping deeply? Are your stress hormones depleted? Is your thyroid really working?
In this week’s episode, I break down the three places I start with chronic fatigue: sleep, adrenal function, and thyroid testing. If you are tired all the time and your labs keep coming back “normal,” this episode will help you understand what might be getting missed.

Skincare built by longevity scientists — not marketers
Most skincare addresses what happens after your skin ages: the appearance of wrinkles, loss of visible firmness, and dullness. But four PhD longevity scientists asked a different question: what if you could target the cellular process that causes visible aging in the first place?
Their answer is OS-01, the first peptide scientifically proven to address senescent cells — the damaged "zombie cells" that accumulate with age and accelerate visible skin decline. The result: the first topical clinically validated to address visible skin aging at the source. In a double-blind 12-week clinical study of OS-01 FACE:
100% of users showed improved overall appearance
96% improved visible firmness
87% showed improvement in the appearance of wrinkles
Barrier strength improved 15%
This isn't skincare with better marketing. It's skincare with better science. And real results.
